ELVIRA, Mistress of The Dark RETURNS
Tonight, when the clock turns from 11:59PM to 12Midnight here in Los Angeles, Elvira will once again be draped across her couch and make her return to television with a screening of Night Of The Living Dead.
Folks, I can't tell you how excited I am about this. Growing up in the 80's would not have been the same without having her show to cap off my weekends on late Sunday afternoons. The sun just starting to set, dinner cooking in the kitchen, and some maniac on the loose in a misty old castle accompanied by Elvira's cornball cracks.
Will "The Breather" be returning to her show as well? I hope so. One of my favorite bits of all time.
Check the Elvira, Mistress of the Dark Facebook to get the time and station in your area.

DARKER MY LOVE "Alive As You Are"
I spent all of January 2010 holed up with Darker My Love and Drew Fischer in San Francisco's Hyde Street Studios, and later up in Cotati's Prairie Sun Studios, recording and mixing their album "Alive As You Are", which is released today on Dangerbird Records. We did the tracking in two weeks and the mixing in a little over one (or something like that).
For those of you thinking you might hear some Freescha sounds on this record, you won't find them here. My main goal was to help them get the sound they already knew they wanted for this record down onto the tape. However, fans of some of my other musical projects The Surf The Sundried, Canyon Country, or Orick may find a musical kinship with this record as well.
I enjoyed working on it with them and I invite you to check it out and see what you think. You may find something new that you like here.
And for those of you that want the Full Analogue Experience, I would suggest listening to the vinyl version. The whole album was recorded to tape, and mixed from tape on an analogue board back to tape. For the CD, some of the songs were remixed digitally, but the vinyl version contains all of the original analogue mixes.

Troll 2....
I've been hearing about this movie for some time now, about how awesome it's shittieness is.
Seeing that there's a documentary about it titled "The Best Worst Movie" coming out soon, I thought it was time to have some friends over and check it out.
What can I say, it's terrible. There are moments that are amazing, they are so bad. But there's more here that made it unwatchable for me, and outweighed the other bits.
BEST worst movie? Not for me it isn't. It's not something I would wanna revisit to bask in it's shittieness. It has no "staying power" as say "The Room" or "Blown Away" (with the two Corey's, their first venture into more "mature" roles). Those two movies I never tire of, i don't find my mind wandering, and I am constantly amazed by.
Troll II may be worth checking out just to check it off the list, but I don't get the hype. There's a slew of this kind of bad out there. It just doesn't reach the heights of some others I've seen.
My two cents...
But I'm still interested in the documentary.

Lucio Fulci's CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD Blu-Ray
Just received my Blu-Ray in the mail of Lucio Fulci's "City of the Living Dead" and watched it last night!! Can't tell you how excited I've been about this release.
Folks, if you haven't seen it yet, there's probably never been a better time. William Lustig's Blue Underground label has just released a brand new transfer of the film on Blu-Ray and dvd, and the results are jaw-dropping. I was drooling the whole way through. The colors pop like never before, while still maintaining its grainy grit throughout. I've seen this film countless times, yet details were brought to my attention that I'd never noticed before. I wish the maestro was still alive to see the special treatment his film has received here. Gory, gritty, haunting, beautiful. Recommended.
